After the ID.4 and the ID Buzz, the Volkswagen ID.7 will be the next model to join the family of electric vehicles at Volkswagen. This time, it is a fairly luxurious sedan that is very spacious for its size. The German automaker has placed a lot of emphasis on its design and technologies. In short, the ID.7 promises to be quite impressive.
The new German sedan was designed using the MEB (Modular Electric Drive) platform. This is used by many models of the brand, which has allowed Volkswagen to refine it to reach its full potential. Thus, this is a major advantage for a car like the ID.7.
A serious rival
If everything that is being said about the ID.7 proves to be true, the German automaker's sedan could be able to compete with the biggest players in the industry, including the Tesla Model 3, which is currently the most popular electric car in the world. The promises are numerous and the figures very generous, but Volkswagen is certainly capable of achieving this feat.
It takes audacity to claim to compete with the world's best-selling electric sedan, but that's exactly what Volkswagen seems to want to do with the ID.7. The latter will benefit from a battery pack with a capacity of 82 kWh in its Pro version, which should allow it to offer a range of over 500 kilometers on a full charge. However, this is only a theory for now since official tests have not yet been carried out. As for the rest, the Volkswagen ID.7 will have an electric motor of over 282 horsepower, which is very powerful for a car whose size resembles that of a Passat.
In addition to being very attractive, the Volkswagen ID.7 will also be a smart car filled with cutting-edge technology gadgets. It will notably have a panoramic roof that goes from transparent to opaque at the touch of a button. Not to mention its 15-inch touchscreen and ambient lighting worthy of that of a spaceship from a science fiction movie.
Although no specific date has been announced, Volkswagen still mentions that the ID.7 will arrive in Canada in the second half of 2024. Moreover, it should be noted that the model presented to us is not the one intended for the North American market. The latter will be unveiled later in 2024 and may display some differences from the current ID.7. If you are interested in the car, you can register on the German automaker's website to be notified when the pre-order tool becomes available.
